Yea, I'm a guy and I can sew after a fashion! Replace a button?
Sure! I even have a old National sewing machine setting in the living room right now (never used it...But it's there!). Its an old one, but it stills works ( I think??!).
I cook, I sweep the floors, Do the dishes by hand, I even make my own BREAD!
And why you may ask? Because there isn't anybody else to do all that stuff! NO WOMAN IN THE HOUSE!
Not for over three years now! Been Married twice (First wife could not boil water without burning it, and the second one liked my cooking!).
But I have been cooking for a long time! When I was 12 years old, I did all the cooking for the family! That's my Mom, Dad, 1 Brother, 2 Sisters and anybody that happened to be around at dinner time! And I'm Pretty good at it too (No Brag...Just Fact!).
I also like to do crafty things too. The second wife and I had a booth at all the locale Craft shows and Art Festivals for several years. And we did pretty well! I still collect and hand paint ceramic DRAGONS!
I'll have to do a post about that one some time.
There is no Woman in my life right now (Will there ever be???) and there is no Woman's work in this house, There is just MY WORK!
I still need to learn some things (Mama Pea, I still can not get that Rag Rug thing down!) and I do a lot of reading!
So, I'm getting there. It's hard doing the Homestead think by ones self (Just ask Susan! e-i-e-i-OMG), get it done we do!

Sooo......you know that you will, in fact, have to show us "Buddy" when you've finished him, right? :)
ReplyDeleteBuddy?, Who's Buddy?
DeleteI didn't see any F.P. (That's Froggy Penis!) in that picture, did you?
Her name is Carolyn!
And when SHE is finished, I will post all kinds of Pictures, Just to show you all how it's done!!
Tom
I am with CR - Okay, you whirlwind, we need to see that frog when you're finished...
ReplyDeleteYou know me Susan,
DeleteI love to post the things I do and this may be a first for me, I will e-mail Mama Pea for pointers!
I'm looking forward to the Challenge!
Tom
You go boy!
ReplyDeleteIf you ask me, IF another woman comes along and you decide to give it a go again, she'll be lucky!
DeleteJane,
DeleteThanks! You seem to be the only one that thinks I can do this!
And Mama Pea,
I do not know how lucky she would be, But she would have to have a Homesteading mind set.Just like you!
Tom
Yep, looks like you will have to get that sewing machine going since you have a frog to sew. If you do a good job, maybe I will have to hunt down my frog pattern and send it to you since you will be an experienced "frog man" by then. And boy, if I were single, I would track you down as I would love to not have to cook. Don't mind baking; just don't like to cook. Hmmm, now let's see. Who do I know that is looking for a man? hehehe Just kidding!
ReplyDeleteKaren,
DeleteAfter 24 years in the Navy, I guess it's about time!
And this is what I made for dinner tonight....
Grilled, Serloin Steak
Roasted Potato, Sprouts, Onions, Carrots and Garlic, With Rose Marry and EVOO!
Garden Salid
And toasted Home Made Whole Wheat Bread!
Wow's that for a sit down dinner?
If she is single and is into Homesteading....At least ask her to come visit my Blog, We can work it out from there!
Tom
Tom, I got so caught up in your bread making spot, I forgot to read this one. Hmmmmmm............ single a?
ReplyDeleteYep, Just me, The Dog and Cat. And I just added the 3 Rabbits!
DeleteThe household chores that I do can be a Challenge as you may know! Canning, Bread Making, Cooking and Baking! But I have fun with it and I like doing it! I do not have to depend on someone else. It's all on me, and if I don't do it, it doesn't get done!
Tom
You can be proud of your accomplishments. Sewing, cooking, crafting - you sound like a man in a million... :)
ReplyDeleteAnytime you wanna come here and do the sewing you're welcome - I HATE it!
Thanks Dani,
DeleteI'm just now getting into sewing (because I won the "Frog give-a-way" from Mama Pea!). And I need to do a lot of reserch and ask a lot of questions.
And all my Blogging Family are there to give advice and hold my hand! I need a lot of hand holding!!
Tom
Tom, good for you! Dan can cook and sew and is always willing to help with dishes and housework. He actually irons better than I do. However, he can do so many things that I can't! A good life partner is truly a blessing, but admirable is the individual who is a jack (or jill) of all trades.
ReplyDeleteHey Leigh,
DeleteThanks for the e-mail!
I have not even started the renovations yet. Just trying to figure it all out in my head! And it looks pretty good from that point of view! HA!
Dan is still one of my Hero's and so are you!!! I'v told you before that I watch each of your projects with great intrest and love what you are doing with the Homestead!
I get so many ideas from you that I will not live long enough to accomplish them all!
I'm Glad that you and Dan are part of my Blogging Family!
Tom
There is no reason why you cant sew. Who said men cant anyway? First thing I would do is take your machine and get it cleaned. Since you said it had just been sitting there for a while. And if you need a manual for it check on the internet. People have them posted. If you could learn how to fix a sewing machine you sure could make a little side money too...just a thought. Like you have much time LOL.
ReplyDeleteGood for you... Sewing takes patience and I think it's great that you don't just go buy something new when something needs fixed. Hey, e-mail me at rideaway_63@hotmail.com I finally got caught up and you won a book in my giveaway. I have it all wrapped and ready to stick in the mail.
ReplyDeleteHolly Crap, Another WIN! Thank You, Thank You!
DeleteI will send the address as soon as I finish this!
I also won a seed give away from "Sensible Homestead" and the seeds arrived yesterday! I will not have to order anything from the seed catalogs this year!
Thanks again!
Tom
For what ever reason, I can not get an e-mail sent to you!? So I hope you come back and read this!

Hey, Tom - Just wanted to let you know that I put the frog pattern in the mail this morning when I went into town. Let me know when he (Whoops, I meant to say "she" since you've already named her Carolyn. ;o]) arrives safe and sound. Now, of course, you know we will ALL be waiting for Show and Tell!
ReplyDeleteMama Pea,
DeleteYou know that I'm waiting with needle and thread for "Carolyn" to arrive! I have 5 words running through my head over and over again!
"I GET TO STUFF CAROLYN, I GET TO STUFF CAROLYN"!!
This is going to be fun!
