I Confess!

OK, I Confess! I can not even come close to understanding the instructions on hoe to operate the sewing machine and "Buddy the Frog" Pattern is even more confusing!
After reading and rereading both sets of instructions, I realized that I was not born with the SEWING GENE! So after e-mailing Carolyn to see if she still wanted the pattern (and admitting to her that Buddy is a male frog!), I put Him into the mail yesterday. And he is on his way to a new home.
So I guess I will have to put up with all the comments teasting me about how a man can be run off by a little FROG! I'm alright with that! At least I know my limitations! And yes, There is a Quitter in me that I try to keep hidden deep down inside and I do not allow him to see the light of day very often!
So there will be no pictures from me of "Buddy". And I will have to be vary careful about the Giveaways I sign up for from now on! But isn't there a little bit of "LOOK I WON" in all of us?
So I guess I will go get a beer and hang my head in shame and move onto other projects! I still have to figure out what I'm going to make for The 5 people that became my "2012 Pay It Forward Challenge" participants. Now that is something I can really get into and know I can do!

  1. I think Buddy will have traveled more than any other stuffed frog in history after all is said and done with this thing! :)

    1. Carolyn,
Maybe you sholud desine a couple of travel stickers to apply to his "Behind"? You know, the ones they use to stick on travel trunks!

    1. Leigh,
Not for me anyway! There are a lot of the Ladies out there who would find this project very easy to get into!
But I knew that it was not for me! Hopefully Carolyn will find it a fun project!

  3. Hey Tom, You have nothing to be ashamed of for giving this project up. I think there are some things we are just not up to doing for whatever the reason ..... lack of interest, lack of skills, lack of need, etc. I liken this to books I think I want to read. If I get a few chapters in and the book just isn't doing it for me, I put it down and read another one. Too darn many books out there to stick with a bad or "uninteresting to me" one and life is too short. So, there are so many other things you can do and accomplish with your precious time than sew. Certainly don't beat yourself up about it. I wouldn't call you a quitter, rather a realist. Not a big deal; carry on with all your other work. And yes, we all like to win stuff but you are right in that we should be careful what we put our names in for. Lesson learned for all of us, huh?

    1. Karen,
I though I was going to receive a lot of Flack and teasting for this. But that has not been the case! Bloggers like you have had nothing but positive things to say about my backing out!
And your right, I sure learned something!
      Thanks for the kind words!

  4. You have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of! Matter of fact, seeing the action you took on this project (sending it to Carolyn . . . a very smart move) gives me the courage to "clean out" some of the guilt-ridden (yes, I admit it) projects that have been weighing heavily on me because I feel I "should" do them. To that I say, bah-humbug! Life is too, too short to do things that stress us or don't make us feel good. If anybody gives you a hard time or calls you a quitter, send them to me and I'll punch 'em out for ya!! Hugs.

    1. Mama Pea,
You would really do that? It's nice to know that YOU HAVE MY BACK!
I have gotten nothing but good feed back about this and I do not feel so bad about it now!
I can now get cracking on the 5 projects for the "Pay it Forward 2012 Challenge that I need to get going on.
So Thank you and HUGS right back at ya!

  5. You get many points for trying! I don't think I would tackle anything with that many parts myself! Enjoy your beer and never say never.

    1. Susan,
I can always count on you for kind words and a pat on the back! The comments from others that are experts in sewing mean a lot too!
And it's time I got back into projects that I know I can make a dent in.
Thanks for the kind words and for being my friend!!!

  6. I wouldn't say "quitter" I would say "realistic!" I am laughing, but not at you - with you! Carolyn's right - very well traveled frog. Buddy might need his own blog or at least a category on someone's blog. I have one for Mr. Toad - he's a real live toad that really gets caught on camera in some fully places around my yard. If you want to sew, start with something a bit more simple, maybe with straight lines! It will make you feel good when you finish something.

I still need my 5 for the Handmade Pay It forward Challenge, if there is anyone out there ....
