OK, Here's a Challenge

Sue, over at E-i-e-i-omg got it started and Mama Pea at "Hard Working Homestead" hooked me into this! So here it is, Hand Make it Forward 2012 Challenge"
This is how it works!
I will have to Make something with my own hands and sent it to the first 5 Bloggers' who comment on this post.
And in turn, They have to do the same! Write a post with this challenge and send the first 5 commenter's something you make with your own hands!
Sounds like a blast to me!! And it can be anything, Big or Small. It just has to be made by you! And you have the whole year (or whats left of 2012 to do it!).
Mama Pea: Do I have that right? (my way of trying to get you as one of the first 5! Can you hear me snicker in the background?!)
Now I do not knit or sew, But I do Can, Cook and I like doing woodworking with my Scroll saw. So who knows what you might get? (I do!)

So come on, Who will be the first to take up the Challenge? (As he rubs his hands together and laughs his Evil laugh)
Any takers?
Tom

  1. Sorry that I cannot join in on this as I don't blog but just wanted to stop in and say "Hi". I found you through Mama Pea's blog. I live in north central NC so am sort of a neighbor albeit a long distance one. I find it fascination that you worm farm. Wondered what you did in your "previous life"? Cannot wait to see what everyone is going to make for this challenge. (Funny, my husband just bought a new-to-him scroll saw. Would love to see what you make with yours.) This is kind of like one of those recipe chain letters but so much better. Have fun.

  2. Hey Karen,
Welcome to my Blog and I hope that you come back! If you use the archive's to go back to some of the older posts, you will see the one for 27 December 2010, That is a post about one of the Scroll Saw cutting I did as a gift for a friend of mine. It's A Bear Door Topper, and it turned out pretty good, even if I do say so my self!
The Worms are a great way to reduce the amount of trash that I send to the Landfill and provide me with all the Worm Casts that I use in the garden.
Oh, and I retired from the Navy in 1995, with 24 years service!

    1. Tom, Thanks for the welcome ... sort of neighbor! I did go back and check out your Bear Door Topper. I love it!!! I sent it to my husband to view and he thought it was inventive also. I had never seen a scroll saw used for this type of piece and my Dad was a first class woodworker. Really like the 3-Dness (is that a word?) of it. Bet your friend loved it also. Seeing that really made me wish I had a blog so I could participate in the challenge but ... oh well. I'll continue to check back now and then to see what you are up to .... so behave, mostly! Oh and thanks so much for your service to this country of ours. Bless you for that!

    2. Karen,
The Bear is a Segmentation cut. The whole pattern is cut from one board, Then sanded and contoured, painted and glued back together. Spacers are placed behind diffarant areas to raise them up. This is the type of projects I like to do'
Tell your husband that a great source for patterns is a magizine, "Creative Woodworks & Crafts". It's a by-monthly, and has two sheets of patterns in each issue. Pretty cool!

But I do need you to send me your mailing address so I'll have it to send you the little thingie I make for you. Just go over to the Contact button on my right hand side bar and you can zap an e-mail to me, okay? Thanks much!

  5. Hi Tom. I'm new here after a recommendation from Modern Day Redneck. I like what I've read so far! Went a bit opposite of you and did the rabbits first and just added my worms thanks to a friend who was gettin rid of them. What do you do with your worms besides compost? I can't wait for it to warm up so I can go outside to get my hands dirty and use some of that great worm-manure. Lol Can't wait to read more of your stuff. God Bless!
